Online grant application process – Coming soonOHBD accepts donations and distribute funds through grants to other organizations for projects that deliver these services in Ethiopia. They must be a United States based non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service. We will work only with 501(c)(3) organizations working in Ethiopia who have a good understanding of local needs and an effective means of delivering services that provide sustainable impact. These organizations will be subject to meeting our grant criteria including: • Be local focused: hiring local populations and working directly with the people in the community, • Demonstrate high impact: measured by number of kids and communities served, direct benefit to women or children, or achievement of set goals and objectives, • Promote sustainability: defined by vision for longer term beyond the immediate project or goal, modifying goals and approach if the need and community involvement changes or evolves, and • Support collaboration: willing to work with other organizations to achieve a larger, broader scale impact with fewer resources needed.
We will select organizations who have a track record of at least three years of consecutive success with previous projects or have the backing of another organization who does. They must have the ability to provide regular updates on progress throughout the project. They must have the ability to accept funds through PayPal. They must also be a United States based non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service. We will look for projects that are tangible, have a start and finish date and are simple and easy to explain to potential donors and supporters. The organizations will partner with us providing volunteers and cover some of the costs of accepting donations activities and events.
