💐Hi IG family✋🏽This week’s big-up goes to Ellenore Angelidis, Founder & Board President of Open Hearts Big Dreams (OHBD), a nonprofit organization. Under the direction of Ellenore and her board of advisers, OHBD focuses on #Literacy, #Art and #Education in #Ethiopia. she has an amazing entrepreneurial spirit as well…enjoy her insight below:
1. Describe your brand in one sentence?
ELLENORE: We are empowering youth in Ethiopia through literacy, art, technology and leadership opportunities so they can transform their futures.👩🏽🏫👨🏽🏫
2. What was the turning point that switched your entrepreneurial dream into action?
ELLENORE: I realized that if I created my own organization to be something that didn’t exist currently, I could have a much bigger impact through innovation and collaboration with individuals as well as great organizations doing important but challenging work in Ethiopia.🇪🇹💻
3. What drives you to keep going during tough times?
ELLENORE: My little girl is my inspiration. She believes her mom is capable of doing anything. When she was much younger, she learned some kids in her birth country don’t get the chance to learn to read or attend school – two things she loves. She told me, “That’s not fair!! You need to fix it, Mama!” I am doing my best to be a part of decreasing the inequity in opportunities that exists today.👩👧👧🏽
4. If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
ELLENORE: Really understand WHY you are pursuing this new venture. Identify the problem that are you solving or gap you are filling and test with your trusted advisers and network. Be dogged in your vision to achieve both but be really flexible on how you might get there. Most entrepreneurs have to make significant changes to their original ideas. Answering these questions and getting clear on your vision will set you up well to weather the first tumultuous years where you learn what you didn’t know you didn’t know.⁉️💯
